Emily Zimmer

Emily Zimmer has been a member of SVRSFD for a year and a half and is one of our Junior members. Emily is being recognized as our May Junior Member of the Month! Emily is currently in EMT class and is very active around the station. Emily can be found any day, riding as an aide on the ambulance and getting assessments to complete her EMT training. Emily is very driven to learn new things about how to help others, as well as helping teach newer members. Emily, just like her mother, who also has a long history in EMS, is very driven to help people and serve her community.

We asked Emily what some of her favorite aspects of volunteering and being a member of SVRSFD were, and this is what she said.

Some of my favorite things about being a volunteer are helping those in my community.
I’ve always wanted to be a hero with or without pay. Every day is a new opportunity to learn and connect with those you meet. My favorite part about being a member with SVRSFD is first the amount of amazing members I volunteer with every day, then the amount of support we have as a community, and lastly, we thrive as a team to serve our community. I have always been very passionate about becoming an EMT/Paramedic. Every day the people I meet remind me why I wanted to get into this field. I hold the hands of patients who just need that comfort; I am all ears when it comes to those who just need someone to listen. Every day is a new learning opportunity from those I help or those I volunteer with. This community has helped me grow as an individual and as a soon-to-be EMT. I plan to continue to work towards my career as a paramedic and helping those in my community.”

We are beyond proud to have Emily as a member of our department and we cannot wait to see all she accomplishes with her bright future ahead of her!
