By Captain Richard Lacey
March 15, 2025

At 1728 hours Area box 3-01 was dispatched for the possible structure fire. As units were pulling out the door Calvert dispatch upgraded the box to a Working Fire as they had received multiple callers advising fire and possible explosions from the structure. Engine 31 (Capt Lacey) and Truck 3 (Sgt Bretz) were on scene in just 4 minutes finding a single story single family with fire showing on the Alpha side. Engine 31 advanced a 1 3/4” attack line through the Alpha side and began extinguishing the fire. Truck 3 threw ground ladders to the Bravo and Charlie side of the structure and assisted with ventilation. Engine 34 (FF Ackerman) arrived and assisted Engine 31 with salvage and over haul. The fire was under control within minutes of crews arriving on scene. Crews from multiple stations from Calvert and St. Mary’s counties assisted with Overhaul, Water Supply, RIT, as well as filling in at Station 3 while crews worked the fire ground.
