On Tuesday, Jan 14th, at approximately 2250 hours, Solomons Volunteers were dispatched to the 11000 Block of Redlands Rd in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates (the Ranch Club) for a vehicle explosion; the assignment was immediately upgraded to a full Area Box as the vehicle fire was threatening the home. Captain 3 (Lacey) arrived on scene to find a pickup truck well off, approximately 25ft from home and established Command. Engine 34 (Ackerman) arrived shortly after and stretched a 1 3/4 hand line to extinguish the fire. Engine Tanker 3 (Taylor) and Truck 3 (Ford) arrived and assisted Engine 34 with the extinguishment and overhaul of the vehicle. Chief 3B (Garnett) arrived and assumed Command from Captain 3 and scaled the assignment back to Company 3 units only. Units were on the scene for under an hour to ensure the fire was extinguished and there was no chance of rekindling.
