Today Solomons Members placed in service a 2016 Kubota RTX 900 UTV. This unit is long over due and was purchased due to the Solomons VRSFD unique response area and many special events which are held throughout our community. The unit is diesel powered and is 4 wheel drive. It is equipped with a dual purpose skid unit which is capable of carrying a stokes litter to transport patients who are incapacitated on park trails or in the wilderness setting as well as carrying a 70 gallon water cell, fire pump and brush hose giving it firefighting capabilities during brush fire incidents in inaccessible areas by vehicles. The unit will also participate in the numerous high pedestrian events on Solomons Island such as the Tiki Bar opening and the annual fireworks. It will proudly serve the community for years to come and willl be known as UTV 3.
